Welcome to the website of illustrator and graphic designer, Dan Bramall, (a.k.a. The Scribbler). This website has been designed as an online portfolio divided into the different areas of my work, including a shop where I sell paintings and prints.
My work is graphic, colourful and fun and inspiration comes from the graphics used in popular culture, signage, my love of animals, picture books and the absurd things in life.
I studied Graphic Arts in Liverpool (ages ago) and more recently (but still quite a long time ago) did an M.A. in Illustration. I have worked as a creative in many different sectors including as a catalogue designer and an interractive designer/animator for educational projects. I have also designed websites, logos, loads of marketing material and worked as a cover designer for Penguin Books.
My clients include international and local companies such as British Gas, Tesco, Robert Wiseman Dairies, Harper Collins, Bloomsbury Books, Penguin Books, Hatched Estate Agency and Costain.
My digital illustration and graphic design has been commissioned for book cover art, magazine imagery, poster art, gas bills, milk cartons and promotional material for a music festival to name just a few. I am a logo designer and also do graphic recording where I capture the content of meetings or training sessions in order to create a visual map.
I have exhibited my paintings and illustrations on several occassions both in group shows and as a solo artist. This includes the following:
Images – The Best of British Illustration - London
Transport for London Illustration Awards - London
Imagining Animals - Hitchin
Two Birds and a Bloke (with painter Sarah Graham) - Hitchin
The Old Courthouse Cafe - Barnet
The Art of Type - Bedford
The Big Draw – Rickmansworth
